What if I never get better?
It’s common to fear that you’ll always feel anxious. Therapy helps you notice real, gradual shifts, calmer moments, fewer spirals that show change is possible, even if it feels impossible now.
What if my anxiety is too much for you to handle?
Many people worry their thoughts, panic, or intensity will overwhelm me. In therapy, nothing is “too much.” You won’t be judged or rushed, your pace is what matters.
What if I’m just lazy and not really ADHD?
Many clients carry shame about not doing enough. Therapy is a space to separate ADHD from self-blame, so you can work with your brain, not against it.
How can counselling help me?
Counselling can help you in various ways. It provides a non-judgmental and confidential environment where you can express yourself freely. Through active listening and empathetic support, a counsellor can help you gain clarity, develop self-awareness, build resilience, improve relationships, manage stress, and overcome personal challenges.
What if I feel uncomfortable or don’t want to talk about something?
That’s completely okay. Therapy is your space. You’re always in charge of what you do and don’t share.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes, counselling sessions are strictly confidential. Your counsellor is bound by ethical guidelines and professional standards to maintain confidentiality, except in situations where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. Your privacy and trust are of utmost importance.
How long does counselling take?
The duration of counselling varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some people find a few sessions sufficient, while others benefit from longer-term therapy. This will be discussed and agreed upon between you and your counsellor, taking into account your progress and preferences.
What happens during a counselling session?
During a counselling session, you will have the opportunity to talk about your concerns, emotions, and experiences. The counsellor will actively listen, ask relevant questions, and provide feedback and support. Together, you will explore your thoughts and feelings, set goals, and work towards personal growth and well-being.
What if I can’t focus in sessions?
That’s okay! ADHD brains work differently. Sessions are structured so you don’t need to sit perfectly still or “stay on track” to benefit.
What kind of issues can you help with?
I specialise in working with anxiety, ADHD, low self-esteem, perfectionism, overthinking, and the challenges of being neurodivergent in a neurotypical world. I also support clients with people-pleasing, burnout, and identity struggles.
What if I don’t know what to say?
That’s normal! Many people worry about this. Sometimes the silence is part of the process, and we can gently explore whatever shows up. You don’t need to have everything figured out before coming.
What if talking about my fears makes me worse?
Anxiety often says “avoid.” In therapy, we’ll create safety so you can face things without being thrown in at the deep end. The aim is gentle progress, not re-traumatising.
Where are you based?
I'm based in Leiston, Suffolk, and offer in-person sessions in a comfortable, private space. I also work online across the UK, so you can access support from wherever you are.
How do I choose the right counsellor?
Choosing the right counsellor is crucial for a positive therapeutic experience. Consider factors such as the counsellor's qualifications, expertise, approach, and experience in dealing with issues similar to yours. Trust your intuition and look for a counsellor with whom you feel comfortable and can build a strong rapport.
How often will we meet?
Most clients start with weekly sessions, which gives time to build momentum and explore things in depth. We can review this as we go and find a rhythm that works best for you.
How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?
The relationship matters more than the type of therapy. The best way to find out is to try a first session and see how it feels. If I’m not the right fit, that’s okay, I can help you find someone who is.
